The objective of this blog is to ignite the thoughts in readers’ mind on how they make decisions.

Its aim is simply to shed light on what you already do without intending to guide, instruct, or inspire in any particular direction.

Good news is it doesn’t involve any data, science, art and so on.

Now let’s delve in to the topic.

You will agree that any information; recorded or remembered, communicated or not is a matter of past. Some of us may be businessmen, employers, employees, professionals and more, but each of us has got personal life regardless of how we earn a living.

Management permeates every aspect of life. Every moment and everywhere, we engage in management. However, it is such an integral part of our existence, so natural to us, that we don’t even realize we are constantly managing.

And yet, when we read management literature, we often do so with a seriousness as if it were entirely new to us!

Management is that often that, everyone can champion it, but if I may dare to say, unfortunately that’s not the case & Here lies a challenge to the practiced notion that "the more you practice, the more you master."

Leaving that aside, let's turn to our topic today..

While we are talking about management, I am going to discuss on only one but foremost important aspect of management, i.e. decision making. In that too, I will limit myself to the basis of decision making: intuition or information!!

As I said somewhere above that information is past & decisions are always related to future!!

By now we all know & hence let’s not spend our energy in discussing, that every situation is unique, different, peculiar & so on. We all know it!! Putting this knowledge to real time test, would you always dare to take decisions based on information? Do you do that? If yes, nothing totally wrong in it, but something is worth pondering for sure.

Making decisions inevitably involves anticipating which in turns makes us assume things & there comes intuition!! & There you got to challenge yourself!!!

Challenge what??

Challenge what you consider as a key… information or intuition!!

Let’s unfold it more. Would you agree if I say that, even interpretation of information involves intuition?

I strongly believe so...

Hence, I want to make a point that Decisions are triggered by intuitions more unless you need to get them approved aligning with inputs, free decisions I mean, your own decisions I mean. I mean the decisions you want to stand for, you want to own even if they go wrong!!

Let’s take a step further from here. If data and your intuition are complementing each other, the probability of decision going right may get multiplied, or even if it turns out to be wrong, you will not blame yourself that you had a dilemma.

But what happens when data fails to confirm what your intuition suggests??

At this juncture what do you confine to? & the answer to this defines your management style.

If you are a data driven manager, think of starting something afresh, right from scratch having no history about, to realize what role intuition plays.

Have you felt that I am more leaning towards management by intuition? If you felt so, I confirm yes, I am so & believe me it is not easy to be so as more than a probability of failure, getting cursed for being “over smart to undermine data” is more!!!

It is furthermore challenging when your decisions need an approval & approver is totally opposite of it!!!

Enjoy Management!! Enjoy Decision making!!! by information of intuition? Make a wise choice!!
